The service
What the Signature Cut includes
Fade, taper, or scissor cut with a razor line-up. Shampoo available on request.
Every Signature Cut starts with a short conversation: what comes off the top, how tight the sides go, and where the line sits. Then it is clipper work through the sides, scissor work over the top, and a straight razor around the edges.
- A consultation on length, guard, and shape
- A fade, a taper, or a scissor cut
- A razor line-up at the hairline, the ears, and the neck
- A shampoo on request
- A dry finish, so the cut sits right before you leave
Choose the cut
Fade, taper, or scissor cut: which to ask for
Three words, three different results.
A fade blends short to shorter as it drops down the side of your head. A skin fade carries that blend all the way to the scalp; low, mid, and high only say where it starts.
A taper is quieter. It keeps length through the sides and cleans the neckline and the arch at the ears, so the cut still reads tidy in week three. A scissor cut leaves the clippers on the shelf, which suits longer or thicker hair on top.
Buzz cuts, shape-ups, custom cuts, and long haircuts all book as a Signature Cut. Curly, coily, and wavy hair books the same service — read how we cut to the curl pattern first.
The finish
The razor line-up that finishes the cut
The last few minutes of the appointment, and the first thing anyone notices.
Your barber sets a straight edge across the front of your hairline, squares the corners at the temples, and carries the same line around the ears and across the neck with a straight razor.
On a receded or uneven hairline that line follows your hair, not a ruler. Pushed forward it looks sharp for a week and then grows in wrong. Tell your barber if your neck is sensitive and the edge gets finished with clippers instead.
At the chair
How to describe the cut you want
You do not need barber vocabulary. Four answers cover almost every haircut.
- How short on the sides — a guard number, or just shorter than it is now
- How much off the top — in inches, or how it should sit pushed back
- Where the fade starts — at the temple, above the ear, or higher
- How you wear it — back, to the side, textured forward, or left alone
Bring a photo if you have one. It settles the gap between two people’s idea of short faster than any description. And say so at the start if you are growing something out, because the cut is different when the goal is length in two months.
Timing
How long to set aside for a Signature Cut
Set aside about 45 minutes.
That covers the consultation, the cut, the line-up, and the finish without rushing any of it. Add a beard trim to the same visit and you are closer to an hour. Add a hot towel shave instead and set aside about an hour and a half, because the shave is its own 45 minutes on top of the cut.
Book online and the chair is held for you. Walk-ins are welcome whenever one opens up, but booking ahead is the only way to be sure of a time.
Most clients come back every two to three weeks to keep a fade tight, and every three to four weeks for a taper or a scissor cut.
Book them together
Add a beard trim or a hot towel shave
Your haircut and the hair on your face are one shape. Booked together, they get cut that way.
Book the Signature Cut and Beard Trim for both in one sitting: the haircut, then a beard trim or sculpt, a hot towel, and a razor line-up. Your barber matches the beard length to the fade so the two do not fight at the sideburn.
Book the Hot Towel Shave instead when you want the beard off rather than shaped, or a head shave with the same towel and razor work.
